Introducing the 2024-25 MRHS Journalism Students: Juniors!

Time to profile the class of 2026!

Sam M. is a not-so-average MRHS student finding his way around.  Only living in Colorado since 2022, he is still new to the culture and environment.  A California born, Ohio raised teen, he has had his taste in different things.  Not directly signing up for journalism, he made his way into the class due to his strong ability in most writing styles. He developed a love for writing in middle school, getting into a state competition for a few of his pieces in 8th grade.  He got inspiration to write from Sarah Ann Carter, an author and mentor throughout his early stages of poetry and fiction.  He has an inviolable interest in business, having helped run his first one freshman year of high school.  In his free time, he is often listening to music while working on a new business idea, writing his sci-fi books, at local shops, or with his friends.  Whenever he can, he will be talking with his sister, who is also his best friend, just making jokes, talking about life, and teasing one another.  Sam loves meeting new people, helping others, and exploring new things.  What he lacks things like attention span and history knowledge, he makes up for in areas like friendliness and silliness.

Vinny D. is an aspiring athlete that enjoys writing and talking about sports. He loves anything about sports and can ramble about them forever. After he began playing football, baseball and basketball, all by the age of 4, Vinny has become a lover of all sports, as his mom (Cayla) owns a volleyball club (Infinity Volleyball Club). He occasionally plays in cash prize tournaments that are run by the club with friends. Vinny has loved writing about sports since he began watching sports talk shows with his dad at a young age, or listening to them on the radio. He also began reading articles about the sports he loved, like football and basketball. Since a young age he's wanted to become a sports reporter and hopes to stay involved with sports as he gets older. Aside from taking Journalism for the first time as a junior this year, he has taken 2 creative writing classes in the past. Outside of his active sports and school you can find him in a student section of an MRHS sporting event, swimming at home, or playing video games with some of his best friends. You can follow him on IG @vinny,dodero
