Introducing the MRHS 2024-25 Journalism Students: Sophomores!

Heidi A. is a very independent, Athletic and intelligent 15 year old. She was born April 21st of 2009. She has always loved writing however this is her first official year in journalism. In 8th

grade Heid was able to make the highest grade in English out of all the other 8th graders. Heidi has never been good at using her voice, she has always naturally been better at writing or typing out what she was thinking instead of speaking it. She started writing right after her first English class in the fourth grade. The first thing Heidi wrote about was how she wanted to start shaving her legs. Her parents were certain they were not going to change their minds but after Heidi wrote the story to her parents they changed their mind. Of course if Heidi could go back in time would she have wanted to shave her legs in 6th grade? No, she didn't quite know how annoying and long it takes. She has been inspired to start writing a book just recently because of the author Christan Hannah. Heidi loves her books. Christian Hannah has a way of writing that just makes the author not want to stop reading. In her freetime she does volleyball or goes to her moms work to help with the elementary kids at Hillcrest Elementary School. Heidi loves hanging out with her Family and Friends. She loves to hike, camp, swim and do really anything outdoors. However on a rainy day where she can not spend time outside she will work on school work or do chores around the house. She may even work on her book sometimes. Heidi will always continue to follow her passion and grow as a writer.

Janessa C. is a teenager who has a strong affinity for her baggy jeans. A Colorado native, she consistently prioritizes maintaining high grades and a good GPA to excel in her future political career. She also focuses on her physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, finding inner peace through self-care practices. Her dedication to her studies often results in recognition for her academic progress. Advanced in the field of self-care, Janessa prioritizes her own needs, even if it means leaving others to read (Want to test that theory? @nesswins on snapchat). She frequently can be seen writing outdoors or contemplating beyond her journaling class; her writings often revolve around the notion of time and the significance of self-love prior to loving others.

Daniel Karpov. is an inspired christian 10th grader who hopes to attain a GPA of 4.0. Although not his first choice, Journalism was presented to him as a fun class where you get to write and have fun. He enjoys the Engineering world and predicts he will create his literature based off of new achievements. Daniel, although not liking to read, has few authors that he would choose if he were to be forced. Dave Ramsey as well as Ken Ham presented to him some of his favorite books. Although most people just choose classes that are easy, Daniel strives to get higher classes and is currently taking AP Physics. Outside of school, Daniel can be found sleeping or doing homework and just playing video games. He also enjoys hanging out with friends, and going to fast food restaurants.

Kyle Prebble. is a Colorado native who has a very on and off relationship with school. He did not choose to be in Journalism class, however believes he’ll produce excellent writing in that class, often getting good grades in classes that involve writing and using the English language. Kyle likes sports and has been participating in sports activities since he was roughly 6 years old, basketball and football are his favorite sports. Mountain Range High School lacks people who write about sports according to Mr. Adamsky, Kyle will be a valuable asset to the sports writing on the Mountain Range website. He likes to write stories that include statistics, which sports writing uses a lot. Kyle can usually be found roaming around the halls or hanging out with a group of friends.

Nujtsim S. is an Asian American and amongst one of the laziest students (in his opinion) but with great creativity for writing and worldbuilding in his freetime. While he would say he is lazy, he can sometimes be energetic and motivated to do work, though this is not to be expected unless he knows when a situation would be dire. When he was younger around the age of 8-9, he used his toys to illustrate his worldbuilding and played with them on par with what the setting was. He was inspired by various authors with unique worldbuilding, most notably Tui T Sutherland for her Wings of Fire series and Kugane Maruyama for their Overlord series. Nujtsim tends to write stories in the genres of horror, grimdark, fantasy or futuristic, and sometimes thriller when he has nothing else to write about. When out of school, Nujtsim is most often found in his apartment doing his own thing, most often gaming but sometimes writing. In his apartment, he will always be found taking care of his little sister and making sure she stays clean and is fed, though he sometimes spoils her with too much snacks. Do not however expect him to be friendly when you knock on his door as he will most likely be confused on how you found out where he lives.
