With the winter sport season ending and the spring season kicking off, many new sports will start their season such as Boys Baseball, Track and Field, Boys Lacrosse. Track and Field is one of the most highly known sporting events in the world and has been for generations. But the Mustangs have a much anticipated season ahead of them.
This year the team returns some familiar faces. Jessie L. (11th) will be the lead sprinter and triple jumper finishing last season with a 11.95 time in the 100 and our second fastest 200 runner with a time of 24.62.The Mustangs don't have a returning set 400 meter runner as of now but in the 800 is Tad R. (12th) who will be looking to increase his school record time this season, as well as being the lead 1 mile runner. And head 2 mile runner returning is Cody M. (11th) who held a time of 11:10.65 this past season. The leading jumper will be Togaya G. (12th.) As for the male throwers the leaders will be Alberto Z. (11th) in all throwing events.
For the Girls this season, they will return sprinter Claire S. (11th) and pole vaulter 400 runner Peyton B. (11th), Daxton A. (10th) in the 800, 1 mile, and 2 mile and long jump. Emily B. (10th) for hurdle events. Finally the leading thrower will be Delaney M. (11th)
“I think our best event will end up being the 800, 1 mile, 100, or 110 hurdles. We have very talented athletes in these events that will be hard to compete with,” says sprinter and hurdler Jon E. (10th) when talking about where the school will perform best this season.
“The practices are pretty fun but the weather during spring sucks and so it messes even with practices and meets,” claims Alberto Z. (11th) when talking about his favorite and least favorite things about track.
Track season is right around the corner and there are many high hopes for this team along with very high expectations with a younger group of athletes.
